The Knights of Gidea Park Junior Chess Club first met as a club on  the 7th of January 2011.
Our home is the Friends Meeting House in Gidea Park and we use the classroom, which has a  kitchen attacted.
The Knights started with a Friday club, which was a mixture of chess ability.
In September 2011, a Thursday club was added for players that are beginners or new to chess.
In the summer of 2013 Thursday club was disbanded, so only Friday club remains.
Friday club meets 18:00 to 20:00,during term time.
The club has an English Chess Federation accredited  chess coach, with a full enhanced CRB.

In the short time the Knights has been formed, we have had success in  many tournaments, gaining 2nd and 3rd places.
We have also many tournaments during this time.
One of these successes was the UK Chess Challenge Essex under-9 Mega-final, with the Knights finishing 1st and 2nd.

The club has had players in Essex under-9 and under-11 teams.
In September the club was awarded the ECF "Chess Club Centre of Excellence" status.
In October 2011 the club hosted and sponsered an Essex under-11 training day.
